You get what you pay for
I was initially looking at the inverter gensets, but but decided to go with the Yamaha EF4000DE standard type since it had the 240V capability. I split the legs in a Reliance 8 circuit manual transfer unit and carefully selected the circuits on each side to balance the power out as much as possible. My well pump also runs on 240V. I also performed the tri-fuel conversion where I run primarily on my bulk propane. It works like a charm. Initially, I did have an issue with the unit not running smoothly through the full range, but after some troubleshooting I found out that the gas regulator (conversion kit) was a little too big for the generator, so I ended up putting a throttle valve in between the regulator output and the carb. It solved the problem and I now have smooth operation from idle to full load.
